Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is a post-secondary readiness system of support designed to prepare students in the academic middle for admission to universities and other post-secondary opportunities.


It is estimated that by the year 2020, two-thirds of all jobs will require some level of post-secondary education. AVID prepares students for 21st century careers each day by providing the academic, social, and emotional skills necessary to succeed in the workplace. Critical thinking, collaboration, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills are strong components of the AVID system along with college and career explorations.
